Introduction, Enrolment and Admission

These terms and conditions outline the agreement between the student and the Daniel Bauer Makeup Academy (DBA), operated by AFI Creative LLP. By enrolling in any DBA course and/or representing DBA on projects, including but not limited to industry events such as Lakme Fashion Week, students agree to comply fully with these terms. All applicants must complete the official application process and submit required documentation, which may include proof of identity, educational records, and a portfolio where applicable. Admission is granted at DBA’s discretion following review of the application, interviews (telephonic or in person), and assessment of suitability and potential. Enrollment is confirmed only upon written acceptance by DBA, accompanied by course details, start dates, and the applicable payment schedule.

Fees, Payments, Refunds and Tax Compliance

Course fees are outlined in official DBA course brochures and are subject to revision. Fees cover tuition and access to academy facilities but exclude makeup kits, brushes, hair tools, or other equipment unless expressly stated. A non-refundable deposit is required to secure a seat, with remaining fees payable as per the agreed schedule. Failure to adhere to the payment schedule may result in forfeiture of the student’s place. Refunds are not available once a course has commenced, though limited transfers to a future batch within the same financial year may be considered in exceptional circumstances and subject to administrative approval. Students must provide accurate invoicing and GST details at enrollment, and no changes may be made once invoices are issued. Responsibility for GST compliance and Input Tax Credit claims rests solely with the student. Where fees are paid after deduction of TDS, submission of the TDS certificate within the prescribed timeline is mandatory, failing which interest at 18% per annum may be applied to the outstanding amount.

Course Structure, Attendance and Industry Placements

DBA courses deliver structured training in hair and makeup artistry through theory, demonstrations, practical sessions, photoshoots, practice days, and industry placements. DBA reserves the right to amend course content, scheduling, trainers, and delivery methods to enhance learning outcomes and is not obliged to disclose detailed curriculum plans beyond a broad overview. Attendance of at least 95% across all classes is mandatory for course completion, with a class defined as any element of the course including placements, photoshoots, practice days, and demonstration days. Missed classes without prior approval are not guaranteed to be rescheduled. Approved absences may be made up within 12 months, subject to availability and DBA discretion. Industry assisting placements form a core part of DBA programs and may include unpaid placements across shoots, events, and shows, primarily within the student’s enrollment city but potentially nationwide. Repeated refusal of placements may be counted against the contracted placement total, and DBA may offer additional placements beyond the minimum to ensure fair access. Students must maintain punctuality at all times, and DBA reserves the right to replace trainers or reasonably extend course duration for academic benefit without additional fees unless expressly stated.

Student Responsibilities, Practice Requirements and Conduct

Students are required to actively participate in all practical components of the course, including practicing makeup on fellow students. Where a student is unwilling to receive makeup application, it is their responsibility to practice on themselves or bring a model. Students must uphold professional standards of behaviour at all times, demonstrating respect toward instructors, staff, fellow students, models, photographers, clients, and the wider DBA artist community. Compliance with dress codes, hygiene standards, and health and safety regulations is mandatory. Any conduct involving harassment, bullying, discrimination, intimidation, or behaviour unbecoming of a DBA artist may result in disciplinary action, suspension, or immediate expulsion.

Discipline, Gross Misconduct and Non-Disparagement

DBA maintains a formal disciplinary framework, beginning with written warnings and meetings with management, followed by suspension or expulsion where necessary. Gross misconduct includes any act that brings DBA, AFI Creative LLP, its staff, students, clients, or industry partners into disrepute. All students, alumni, and individuals working on behalf of DBA agree to a strict non-disparagement obligation, refraining from any public or private statements that could harm DBA’s reputation. This obligation extends to social media, professional networks, online platforms, and industry environments, particularly during high-profile placements where discretion is essential. Failure to comply may result in removal from placements, revocation of alumni status, suspension, expulsion, or legal action. Placement-specific codes of conduct and content embargoes must be strictly followed, including prohibitions on sharing non-public material without DBA approval.

Students must raise grievances internally through DBA’s complaints procedure, with unresolved matters eligible for review by the External Student Counsel, an independent group of former DBA students providing non-binding recommendations. Disputes not resolved internally may proceed to arbitration in Maharashtra, with costs shared equally. DBA reserves the right to amend these terms at any time, with continued enrollment constituting acceptance of revisions. These terms are governed by the laws of Maharashtra, India, and apply under AFI Creative LLP. By enrolling, students confirm that they have read, understood, and agreed to these terms. For queries, students may contact DBA administration during official office hours.

Assessment, Certification and Intellectual Property

Students are assessed through practical and theoretical examinations, assignments, and portfolio shoots designed to evaluate technical skill, creativity, and professional readiness. Certification is awarded only upon successful completion of all assessments and attendance requirements. All course materials remain the intellectual property of DBA and are provided solely for personal educational use. DBA retains the right to use photographs, videos, and other media of students and their work produced at DBA for promotional and educational purposes, with appropriate credit where applicable.

Images and videos created at DBA are for personal, non-commercial use only and may be shared on personal websites and social media in accordance with DBA guidelines. Only currently enrolled or certified students may reference @danielbaueracademy, and no student is authorised to tag or reference individual trainers or staff profiles. DBA and the photographer reserve the right to revoke usage rights in the event of material breaches, and students acknowledge the importance of respecting the creative contributions of all parties involved. DBA collects and processes personal data in compliance with applicable data protection laws and maintains confidentiality except where disclosure is legally required.
